It’s Sunday and at mid-day from my preferred almost totally horizontal position on my sun lounger (it doesn’t recline any further), catching and enjoying every Winter ray of sun, I watched some of the staff of Cabopino gather the sun loungers and occasional furniture from around the outdoor pool and drag them to a corner to stack them for the Winter. Having had two Spanish lessons, complemented with my Duolingo App, I listened to the men’s chatter and for any words I might recognise. Nada! I thought, that’s it, the outdoor pool is closed until Easter, it’s now officially the end of Summer and no more fountain water fall sounds to listen to. At least the weather is still in the 20s for the next few weeks to enjoy.
At four the three of us walked to Cabopino beach for our evening barefoot in the sand stroll and to watch another sun set.
We had completely forgotten it was a weekend for the locals and few tourists and as we got closer to the beach we could see that the bars were alive with customers sitting at tables set out on the sand. We weren’t expecting so much activity.
Along the beach were family and bubble groups enjoying the sea, the sun. There were two or three amazing sand castles, one was actually a farm where the child had set out his animal toys. It was quite impressive.
As we got to the end of the beach, having walked along the sand, we decided to walk back along the board walks. We’ve read that they are about 12 km in length but I don’t think we’ve walked all of it – yet. On each of our walks through the dunes we’ve noticed a sweet smell but we haven’t managed to figure out which plant or tree its coming from. It’s slightly similar to rape seed in depth of aroma but sweeter.
We arrive back to the campsite to find out that our area will be in lock down from Tuesday for two weeks. After discussions it is clear we cannot turn left out of the campsite towards Fuengirola to our usual shopping centre, but we can turn right towards Marbella. The bars and restaurants will have to shut from 6pm Tuesday evening onwards.
We begin to make a plan for shopping tomorrow, Monday, to stock up. We shall have to be creative with storage as it’s much more challenging in a caravan than our four bedroomed home.
Is the outdoor pool closed now? At
least you have the indoor one and
some reasonable temperatures. Had
lovely walk in Swinley Forest this
morning, not quite the same as being
on the beach, good luck with the
shopping storage. Knowing you
Blanche there will be a place for
everything 👍. Btw Roger and Janet
sent their regards and good wishes xx
