Busy Doing Nothing

We’ve now been out of the UK for just over a month and completed our third week at Cabopino.  Many of you, knowing we are each busy doers, are asking if we are not yet bored – our response is “actually, not yet”!

Our stay at Cabopino is living the dream and not a holiday experience.  As we are not staying in a hotel or a catered apartment, we have similar daily routines as we had at our home in Crowthorne and to those of you reading this post.  We still have to food shop to be able to prepare our meals, I have my domestic goddess duties and Steve has his caravan maintenance routines.  We still have our breakfast meetings to discuss what we’re going to do each day, although over here they are later, consist of fresh orange juice, fresh coffee and taken outside in the sun.  I never have to think when I do the laundry whether I’ll be able to hang the washing outside in case its raining and taking Stella for a walk is always enjoyable, especially along the beach watching the sun sets.  We don’t have TV programmes to watch, we spend our evenings chatting and occasionally watching Netflix or Amazon Prime.

Yesterday afternoon around 4pm on one of our beach walks, I thought I heard Elvis on the beach, but it was an English covers band playing at Andy’s Bar to an appreciative audience taking advantage of Sunday’s good weather, around 22/24, and the 6pm bar Covid curfew.  It seemed a shame not to stop, so we did.  My quenching apple juice was closely followed by one of the best beach served Piña Colada and fresh calamari frito ever.

The musicians were really, really good seamlessly playing one track to the next without missing a beat successfully filling their set with maximum live music.  Many of us were tipping our toes (you can’t tap on sand) to the beat and one or two dancing in front of the band on the wooden dance floor.  It was so, so weird hearing the band make announcements for dancers to remember to observe social distancing.  At 5:30 we made a happy slow departure from the bar.
